We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to you as you consider joining us at Tameside Council. This is an exciting and pivotal moment for our borough, and we are seeking exceptional and values‑driven leaders to take on two critical roles: Strategic Director of Adult Social Care and Health and Assistant Director of All Age Commissioning. Together, these roles will be central to protecting our most vulnerable residents, shaping a healthier and more resilient Tameside, and driving an integrated approach to commissioning across the life course.
As part of a refreshed and stable leadership team, the Strategic Director of Adult Social Care and Health will play a key role in strengthening our care and health system, delivering safe and high‑quality services, championing independence, and driving forward our shared vision for better outcomes through our Live Well agenda. Alongside this, the Assistant Director of All Age Commissioning will lead a holistic, system‑wide commissioning approach, drawing together children’s services, public health and adult social care to deliver co‑produced, needs‑led and outcomes‑focused support for residents of all ages.
Having the privilege of working closely with our passionate officers, dedicated members, health partners, voluntary sector, and the communities we serve, we can confidently say that Tameside is powered by people with heart, integrity, and an unwavering sense of purpose. From social workers to care providers, community leaders to clinicians, our borough’s strength lies in the loyalty, honesty and pride that underpin every interaction. We are looking for leaders who can harness these qualities, support and inspire our workforce, and lead with compassion and clarity as we address complex challenges and drive continuous improvement.
Our ambitions extend across every part of Tameside. With major regeneration and investment accelerating through our Strategic Growth Unit, we are delivering long‑term, inclusive growth that will shape healthier and more resilient communities. Strong partnerships with our health system, the VCSE sector and Greater Manchester Integrated Care are central to ensuring these benefits are felt by residents who need them most. Whether through preventative services, community‑led support, integrated locality working, or intelligent all‑age commissioning, we are committed to creating a borough where everyone has the opportunity to live well for longer.
Tameside is proud of its heritage and its diverse communities. Each of our nine towns has its own identity and strengths. Our cultural assets, community spirit and unique places create the conditions for people to live fulfilling lives, supported by services that understand them and put their wellbeing first. This blend of local pride, resilience and ambition makes Tameside a very special place to live, work and lead.
While our ambitions are bold, we are also honest about the challenges we face. Tameside is one of the more deprived areas in England, and demand for adult social care and wider commissioned services continues to rise. Many of our residents live with complex needs, long‑term conditions and the effects of entrenched health inequalities. At the same time, the wider care and health workforce is under significant pressure. These realities require leaders with courage, compassion and determination – individuals who can drive improvement, shape modern and sustainable services, strengthen partnerships, advocate fiercely for residents, and ensure our most vulnerable people receive the support they deserve.
Thank you for considering these opportunities to join us. We look forward to the possibility of welcoming you to Tameside and working together to deliver outstanding care, support and life‑changing outcomes for our community.
